The death of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak

Hosni Mubarak's funeral: the funeral of the late president in the presence of Sisi and current and former officials in Egypt :



The death of former Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak has occupied social networks in Egypt and the Arab world, after the Egyptian authorities confirmed the news of his death at 91 years.
Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was held at an official military funeral in Cairo, in the presence of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the chief of staff of the Egyptian army, Mohamed Hegazy, and senior former and current state leaders, and delegations from Arab countries, amid tight security measures.

The funeral ceremonies began after the noon prayer at the Al-Musheir Mosque, east of Cairo, and the mourners then went to Mubarak's body to attend the military memorial service, before they went to the family graves in Heliopolis.

Cairo airport authorities raised the degree of readiness for the extreme case of receiving delegations of mourners, most of whom are from Arab countries.

Security has tightened the areas leading to the Al-Musheer Mosque, Cairo Airport, Heliopolis, and Cairo's entrances and exits since Wednesday morning. Official television and several local private
channels use a black ribbon that appears on the top of the screen as a way to express mourning.



Mubarak, 91, died on Tuesday morning in the Galaa Military Hospital, three weeks after having an abdominal surgery, and his health has deteriorated.
Mubarak stepped down from the ruling on February 11, 2011, after mass demonstrations against his rule.
Mubarak was commander of the Air Force at the rank of team, until he was appointed Vice President of the country during the rule of former President Anwar Sadat.On October 14, 1981, Mubarak was sworn in as president after the assassination of Sadat.

Mubarak ruled Egypt for nearly 30 years, before the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, Omar Suleiman, announced that Mubarak would step down as president, after 18 days of demonstrations in the January 25 revolution in 2011.

The Egyptian presidency called on former President Hosni Mubarak in a brief statement, limited to mentioning his military role as commander of the Air Force in the October War.


In its statement, the Presidency offered condolences to the Mubarak family.

The General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces also mourned in a statement on Tuesday the former Egyptian President.
"The General Command of the Armed Forces mourns a son of its sons and a leader of the glorious October War leaders, former President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, who passed away this morning, and presents his family and officers of the armed forces and their soldiers with sincere condolences, and we call upon the Mighty, the Most High, to glorify Him by means of His mercy. "
